AI business consulting: a roadmap, not a pile of tools

For businesses that need more than a single assessment: a plan across departments, clear rules for using AI, and someone to help you keep it moving.

What is it?

AI business consulting is advisory work that helps you decide where AI and automation belong across the business, in what order, under what rules, and with which vendors.

How it differs from the assessment: the AI Operations Assessment is a fixed-price, one-time look that produces a report of quick, practical improvements. Consulting is broader and runs over several weeks or months: more people, more departments, policy and vendor decisions, and follow-through.

Who it is for

A good fit if you...

  • Have several departments or locations with different needs
  • Need an AI use policy before staff start using tools on client or customer data
  • Are choosing between platforms and want an independent comparison
  • Have tried AI projects that stalled and want a plan with owners and checkpoints

Something else may fit better if you...

What you get

  • A map of how key work flows today, built with the people who do it
  • A list of opportunities scored by effort and impact
  • Tool and vendor comparisons, including what each option means for your data
  • A phased roadmap with owners, dependencies and checkpoints
  • A draft AI acceptable-use and data-handling policy written for your business
  • A business case for each phase that shows the assumptions behind its costs and expected benefits
  • Regular check-ins to review progress and adjust the plan

Not included

  • Legal review of policies (we recommend your counsel reviews the final draft)
  • Building the automations, unless quoted as part of the project
  • Accounting, tax, legal or other regulated professional advice
  • Software licenses

How it works

  1. Introductory call. 20 minutes, free, to understand the goal and decide whether consulting or the assessment is the better start.
  2. Scope and quote. A written description of what we will deliver, who we need time from, and the price.
  3. Discovery. Working sessions with the people who do the work, plus a review of the tools you have.
  4. Roadmap and policy. We present the plan, the policy draft and the vendor recommendations, and adjust them with you.
  5. Follow-through. Check-ins on the schedule we agree, so the plan does not stall after the first phase.

Example: an AI use policy and first pilot

Illustrative example for a fictional business. Not a client result.

Business: an 18-person bookkeeping and payroll firm whose staff have started using AI chat tools on their own.

Problem
Staff are pasting client details into free AI tools to draft emails. Nobody has said what is allowed.
What we did
Drafted a one-page policy naming approved tools, which client information may never be entered, and that a person reviews every AI-drafted message before it is sent.
First phase
A 30-day pilot of an approved drafting assistant in one team, limited to routine client reminders.
Checkpoint
At 30 days: is the team using the approved tool instead of free ones, and are reviewers catching problems before messages go out?
Next decision
Extend to other teams, adjust the rules, or stop.

How we judge success

We agree the measures at the start of each phase, based on your goals. Typical ones: decisions made on time, phases delivered as planned, staff using approved tools for the tasks named in the plan, and fewer ad hoc tools in use. We report against them at each check-in.

Pricing

Consulting is quoted after an introductory call, based on the scope, the number of people and departments involved, and how long you want support. You receive a written quote before any work starts.

Common questions

How is consulting different from the AI Operations Assessment?

The assessment is a fixed-price, one-time review that produces a report of practical improvements. Consulting is broader: several departments, policy and vendor decisions, and ongoing follow-through.

Do we need the assessment first?

No. Some clients start with the assessment and move into consulting; others start here.

Will you write our AI policy?

We draft one tailored to your business and walk your team through it. We recommend your legal counsel reviews the final version.

How is it priced?

By scope, after an introductory call. You receive a written quote before any work starts.

Who from our team needs to be involved?

The owner or a decision maker, plus the people who do the work being discussed. We keep sessions short and scheduled around your week.
